Just a little bit about us

Lynn Cooch

I am a member of the Heart of Minnesota Great Dane Club and
Boxer Club of Minnesota

A little about Lynn:  My first Great Dane, Duncan, taught me so much about this wonderful breed.  He lived to be 13 years old and brought me joy every one of those days.

I met Fay Rogstad in 1992 when I was considering another Dane because I know they were not long lived.  Although it was not until September 1999, Fay said she knew she would get a puppy into my house.  Fay has been my mentor and my friend ever since.  She sold me my first show puppy Bentley and he and I learned the confirmation ring ropes together.  Ashton is my second Dane, which I co-own with Fay.  His breed type is exceptional and his temperament is one that every Great Dane should have.  Ashton is well on his way to his championship.

At Indigo Boxers and Great Danes we seldom breed.  When we do we strive for healthy puppies with great temperament, soundness, and breed type.

I have loved animals all my life having dogs or cats depending on my housing allowed.  I have watched the Boxer breed for a while and always found the Boxer to be a most fascinating breed.   My close-up visit occurred at the Duluth Dog Show a few years ago.  After watching the boxer ring for confirmation, I had the opportunity to meet ‘Bubbles’.  She was a fawn boxer with the sweetest personality who offered her affection with out reserve to me.  Thank you for those precious moments as it gave me that final push to winning me over.  The other great picture I witnessed was a boxer, riding passenger in a pickup, sitting and watching like they owned the road.  Well of course, I have a pickup and my dog WOULD be sitting with me as we drove down the road, too eventually.

In my search for a boxer, I met Vikki, and she had all different breeds and said you want to get a show dog.  Well I have only watched the show ring and had no desire to actually get in there myself.   I figured I would let that be done by the pros or in my case, Lynn.  So my search for a dog was for a bitch, as I have always had female dogs or cats for the most part.  The funny part is that Lynn always had boys and so the saga continues.  SO the opportunity came to visit 2 boxer pups 9 weeks old, brindle, one dog and one bitch.  Of course, the little girl got in my arms and cuddled into my jacket since it was cold and windy.  I thought I would check out the dog, but the little girl made all kinds of noises when I put her down and of course we can’t have that, so we bonded some more, Madison was my first boxer to bring home.  After watching Lynn and her friends with the Great Danes, and all the wonderful boxer people I have met, I can now say I achieved my first Champion in Confirmation with Madison Nov 22, 2003 in Omaha, NE.  As I learned and have many friends to thank also in the boxer world, I look forward to breeding and again entering the ring for competition.  It really does get in your blood and I like to show now too.
